Store History

Les Madeleines opened its doors to the pastry lovers of Salt Lake City in December 2003 on State Street. For more than 3 years Les Madeleines captured the attention of food lovers from all over UT, WY, ID and many other far-flung destinations.

Although not an exclusive cupcakery, Les Madeleines was the first in Salt Lake City to offer a wide variety of unique, gourmet cupcake flavors.

The true star of the show is the kouing aman, a rich, buttery carmelized piece of heaven from Brittany. It has been featured on the Food Network, in Gourmet and many blogs and ezines as well.

In the summer of 2007, Les Madeleines moved down the street to its current location. The new digs allowed for an expanded lunch menu as well as a new case dedicated to cupcakes. With more room in the other two cases, Les Madeleines is making French macarons which we’re calling “Buttons.” Button flavors are inspired by the same combinations for the cupcakes.

Photos of my travels and inspiration are currently displayed at Les Madeleines. These places and experiences are intricately woven into my food. I thank all of those who have allowed us to be part of their experiences.

December 2010 marks our 7-year anniversary. We would like to thank everyone who has supported us over the years making it possible for us to reach this milestone.

Recognition includes: Salt Lake Tribune Best Croissant 2004, Salt Lake Magazine Best of the Beehive 2006, Salt Lake Magazine Best Pastry Chef 2007, Winner 2007 Pastry Challenge, City Weekly Best of Utah 2008, Salt Lake Magazine Best of the Beehive 2009, Salt Lake Magazine Best Bakery 2010.

We have also been featured on Food Network's Road Tasted with the Neelys and The Best Thing I Ever Ate, and in Gourmet and Food & Wine magazines.
